(7th & 8th Grades)
The class meets on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. This class is geared toward discussing current events and situations that often come up for Junior High students and how their Christian faith can help them deal with these issues.
On Wednesday evening, the children first share a meal beginning at 6:00 p.m. with the Trinity program and then meet for study and discussion. We then have activities which cover a wide range, from just plain fun to service work.
This is a two year curriculum that covers the Old Testament and New Testament in one segment and then delves into Lutheran History and Catechism and Lutheran Living for the next segment. We utilize the Colaborate Curriculum from Spark House.
The children also attend Weekend Retreats (both fun and informative), Church Lock-ins, complete 15 hours of service work, and finish 18 Sermon Notes during the two year cycle as they explore their faith.
The service work can be easily completed as they can Acolyte, help with Vacation Bible School, help fundraise for Mission Trips, assist in the Nursery, manage a coffee hour, and many more possibilities.
After instruction is completed with the Pastor, in May, 8th graders celebrate with the congregation, family, and friends at Confirmation Sunday, where we honor their hard work as they affirm their Baptism. Confirmands are then full participants in the membership of the church.
We strive to help all of our students achieve this faith milestone, so we are flexible and offer many different learning opportunities for those children involved in many activities. Please contact the Director of Christian Education if you have any questions.
